About the Laboratory

Established in 2009 (from 2009 to 2017 the laboratory was headed by Audrey A. Gilep, Ph.D.).

Personnel: 21 researchers including 7 Ph.D.

Research directions

  • Structure-function studies of cytochromes P450 of humans and pathogenic organisms
  • Developments in the area of recombinant antibodies for human disease treatment
  • Study of enzymes of pathogenic fungi (causative agents of mycoses in humans), search for inhibitors of their activity, identification of resistant to antifungal drugs strains
  • Development of PCR kits for diagnostics of infectious diseases of humans and animals
  • Elaboration of sample pretreatment methods: kits for isolating DNA and RNA from biological fluids, tissues of animal and vegetable origin, kits for isolating plasmid DNA and for purifying DNA from agarose gel
  • Molecular diagnostics in high performance sport
  • Development of methods for estimation of the level of drug metabolism for personalized medicine (psychiatry, cardiology, and oncology).

Main achievements and developments

  • Determination of the molecular mechanism of resistance of the pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis in order to create a new generation of anti-tuberculosis drugs.
  • Highly purified human recombinant cytochrome P450 preparations: CYP19, CYP11B2, CYP17, CYP51, CYP2C9.1,
    CYP2C9.2, CYP2C9.3, CYP2C19.1A, CYP2C19.1B, CYP2C19.9 and CYP2C19.13.
  • A reagent kit DNA-VK for isolating the total DNA from samples using inorganic sorbent.
